Who would have imagined there is a Chinese garden in the heart of Frankfurt. Good News!!! There is one!!!! The garden gives great Chinese vibes and is a great addition to the multiculti dynamic that is Frankfurt city. The Chinese Garden is located in the Bethmann Park in Frankurt and is walking distance from the Hauptwache, which is the main shopping street in Frankfurt. What’s more… Entrance is absolutely free!
It is a must visit when one is in Frankfurt, as it is located inside the Bethmann park. In spring one can watch the beautiful flowers boom, in summer enjoy a breeze in the garden, in autumn enjoy the amazing look of coloured leaves. The Chinese garden in Frankfurt is worth a visit all year round.
It is a calm relaxing oasis in the concrete jungle that Frankfurt City is. The Chinese garden is situated in the Bethmannpark, adding an equisite experience to the general visit of the park.
As previousy mentioned, in summer the Chinese garden is filled with fish and the beautiful flowers make the trip to the garden very worthwhile. In Spring??? The garden is just perfect. On top of that you get to see a great Chinese platform that makes for a great small Chinese hut, very #traumhaft (gorgeous/amazing) if I had to quote the Germans on this.
A little history, shall we? According to the Frankfurt City Council the Chinese Garden reflects the Shiukou Gardens in Huizhou, China. “The garden in this exceptional place does indeed radiate a special calm and an East Asian aesthetic. Surrounded by thick walls and shielded from the hectic pace of the city, the garden has been constructed according to the model of the Shiukou Gardens in Huizhou.
The buildings are in the style of simple homes from the Anhui province. Over a period of only 5 months of construction, in 1989 a 4,000-square-metre “spring flower site” was created here with 22 landscape views, a marble bridge, various pavilions, a large pond and even a waterfall. The specialists and craftsmen who created this exotic garden world also came from China, as did most of the precious materials used in its construction.”
Remember we mentioned that the Chinese garden is located at the Bethmann Park in Frankfurt? Well… the Bethmann Park is big and offers lots of areas to have a picnic and for all the chess lovers there is a big chess play area located in the park.
Hopefully you have now added The Chinese garden on your bucket list. And when in Frankfurt lets visit the Chinese Garden!! #HappyTravels!!
